Gorgeous ashtray with brass leg. Vintage object perfect for the home of an enthusiast.

The history of the ashtray records that the most common model is a shallow cylinder with a flat base, which is placed on a table. Other ashtrays, especially in public places, are wall mounted and are larger than standard ashtrays due to the increased use they receive. Many ashtrays have notches on the edge to hold cigarettes and / or cigars. The ashtrays were frequently mounted in luxury cars or larger, before being later available as accessories installed by distributors. For example, cars like the BMW E38 had ashtrays and lighters installed in both rear doors. The word "ashtray" came into common use after 1926. The need for such objects to shake ash in public space increased in the post-World War II era when cigarettes began to be mass-produced with non-biodegradable filters and cheap sheet cigarettes were sold in packaging from disposable cellophane. At the same time, the design of these objects was refined.

Brass is one of the oldest alloys discovered by man and since ancient times has been used especially for making decorative objects, vessels, wind musical instruments and jewelry. Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc in various proportions, golden-yellow, malleable, ductile, easy to process. Yellow brass can contain up to 80% copper. Brass resembles gold and has become very popular.
