Initially, it was inspired by the current expressionist, painting with thick lines and sharp angles, with a color in which earthy tones predominate.
After graduating, Iser worked for the socialist press at flare and truth, where he published a large number of caricatures. The satirical drawings approached the problems of the Romanian society, through the prism class conflict, and were addressed especially to the monarchy and the bourgeoisie, while emphasizing the role of the labor movement.
During his maturity, Iser's painting includes life scenes, on themes Dobrogea, with portraits of locals Tatars. Following some trips to Spain and in the Orient, Iosif Iser adopts a brighter color, with an exotic touch, the compositions acquire balance and monumentality. He continued to deal with the theme of the Tartars with the work Tatar in blue or Tartar family. Later, he added a series of paintings to the collection harlequins.
After WWII, again painted socialist themes, especially portraits of workers. Into the 1955 he was elected a member of the Romanian Academy. He died in 1958, to Bucharest.
