Stefan Luchian and Constantin Artachino signed <\/span><span class=\"a\">contract with Alexandria City Hall on May 1 <\/span><span class=\"a\">1898 for the restoration of the Cathedral, the painting of the cathedral being received in <\/span><span class=\"a\">the same year, first by a City Hall commission, <\/span><span class=\"a\">on October 26, then by one from Bucharest, at <\/span><span class=\"a\">November 8. Following the 1940 earthquake, <\/span><span class=\"a\">the tower of the Cathedral of Alexandria has been rebuilt <\/span><span class=\"a\">and then repainted, in 1944, by Constantin Artachino <\/span><span class=\"a\">together with the local painter \u015etefan Panciu.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>Participant in exhibitions <b>Official Salon of Painting and Sculpture<\/b> resumed in 1924 in the conditions in which at the end of the 19th century and in the first years of the 20th century, the Exhibitions of living artists ceased to be organized due to the appearance on the art scene in <a class=\"int-link\" title=\"Romania\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wikiwand.com\/ro\/Rom%C3%A2nia\">Romania<\/a> of the various artistic organizations and societies among which they stood out <a class=\"int-link\" title=\"Ileana Society\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wikiwand.com\/ro\/Societatea_Ileana\">Ileana Society<\/a>, <a class=\"int-link\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wikiwand.com\/ro\/Societatea_%E2%80%9ECercul_artistic%E2%80%9D\">Artistic Circle Society<\/a> and last but not least <a class=\"int-link\" title=\"Artistic youth\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wikiwand.com\/ro\/Tinerimea_artistic%C4%83\">Artistic youth<\/a>, which coagulated the interests of Romanian artists since 1901, with a period of inactivity during <a class=\"mw-redirect int-link\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wikiwand.com\/ro\/Primul_r%C4%83zboi_mondial\">World War I.<\/a>, and until 1947 when it was abolished. <a class=\"int-link\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wikiwand.com\/ro\/Constantin_I._St%C4%83ncescu\">Constantin I. St\u0103ncescu<\/a> revitalized the Exhibitions of Living Artists in 1894 by organizing at <a class=\"int-link\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wikiwand.com\/ro\/Ateneul_Rom%C3%A2n\">Romanian Athenaeum<\/a> of the first Exhibition of living artists he titled <b>Salon<\/b>.
