We can't help but remember something about the most famous contemporary painter from across the Prut. Iurie Matei is an international artist, who likes to paint people the most. “There are paintings that I worked on a lot, others are dear to my characters, for example in those in which I painted my mother or Childhood Memories - a very simple painting that I care about. I create paintings that enter the collective memory. In 95 percent of my paintings are people. Especially those with whom I have certain feelings of friendship, of love because then I become more sincere, more credible. We, the artists, have priority, because our work does not have to be translated. We can sell it or export it to any country in the world. " In 1999 he launched the "Iurie Matei" awards for literature, fine arts, music, theater, film, patronage and art management, and in 2010 he was awarded the honorary title of "People's Artist". He has had numerous solo exhibitions in Romania, the Netherlands, France, Italy, and Ukraine. The paintings painted by this master of the brush cost as much as a Porsche or a BMW, he had dozens of national and international exhibitions, and his works have reached private collections around the world.
The event was also attended by people of culture, businessmen from the Republic of Moldova, art critics and journalists.
