The first event of this kind was the one that took place in 1997 in Berlin. The concept of free access was very well received so that in a short time the number of organizing institutions increased a lot, as well as the number of visitors. In 1999, the event was held in France under the name of "Spring of Museums" (Printemps des musées), at the proposal of the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, which takes place in the spring, on a Sunday. Subsequently (2001) the event was organized in all the signatory countries of the cultural convention of the Council of Europe, being placed under the high patronage of its Secretary General and targeting especially people close to museums. In 2005 this event is moved during the night and changes the target audience, addressing young people and families who make their program during this period, reborn under the current name - "Museum Night" and expanding throughout Europe. It is organized on the Saturday closest to May 18, the date adopted by ICOM (International Council of Museums) as International Museum Day. Since 2011, ICOM has joined UNESCO and the Council of Europe in sponsoring this event.
For two years, that is, since the inauguration, Alexandra's Gallery has been a partner of the event, so on May 19, 2018, from 19.00, we have been waiting for you at the Gallery.
