The University of Bucharest has completed a special project to photograph and publish medieval documents on a special website. All documents issued until 1600, kept in the National Archives of Romania in original, copies, transcripts or summaries, have been restored and digitized, and now constitute the Medieval Archive of Romania, which can be accessed on http://arhivamedievala.ro/. The database is part of the project implemented by the University of Bucharest, the National Archives, the "Babeș-Bolyai" University and the National Archives of Norway, with the "Lucian Blaga" Library in Cluj-Napoca and the National Museum of History of Romania joining in. The total value of the project is 3.9 million lei, fully non-refundable, money coming from the EEA Financial Mechanism 2009-2014. The Medieval Archive of Romania contributes essentially to the knowledge of the history of Romanians, Hungarians, Germans, Roma and other peoples who lived together in this space in the 12th-16th centuries by facilitating access to historical sources.

We also went to this site and searched for "painting". We immediately found a document from December 1464, issued by Nicholas, the bishop of Transylvania, who asks him Ladislaus, magistrate, and the jurors from Sibiu, to send him a restored painting for the church in Alba Iulia. You can see the letter in the attached image.

Congratulations to the team that successfully completed this project.
